Accountancy firm in Darlington

Quick note for everybody – For anyone wondering if they are entitled to the self employed grant that is currently being applied for last week and you are a director of a limited company, unfortunately directors of companies are classed for these purposes as employed by company.

So to summarise, directors cannot claim self employed grant unless they also operate as a soletrader/partnership that amounts to more than 50% of their total income on 2019 and prior two tax years tax returns submitted as based on historical earnings.

Hope this helps clear matters up as directors can claim their element of PAYE income via furlough scheme but not dividend income
